LEDIB Programme Local Advisory Board (LAB) Established
On March 7th 2008, with the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Understanding by LEDIB Programme Coordinator and LAB members, LEDIB Programme Local Advisory Board (LAB) has been established.
The Local Advisory Board (LAB) is the formal mechanism for local anchoring for the overall implementation of LEDIB Programme in Nisava District.
LAB guides the implementation of LEDIB Programme at an overall level in accordance with the Programme document and the Terms of Reference (ToR).
The main function of LAB will be to ensure that the implementation of the LEDIB Programme is continuously in tune with the vision, goals and ambitions of the local stakeholders considering the long-term interests of SME Development in Nisava District within the textile and construction sectors.
LAB is expected to be operational at least till 2012, the proposed end of LEDIB mandate.
LAB members are invited to be a part of this body based on their track record and reputation of being able to work voluntarily for the development of Nisava District beyond the limits of their own organisation. Hence it is not expected that the members of LAB can delegate their responsibility to other employees of their organisation.
Following are the specific tasks of the LAB:
• Provide guidance in improving the synergies between LEDIB supported interventions and other development activities in Nisava District
• Assist in addressing specific issues at local level that are hindering smooth implementation of LEDIB supported interventions.
• Advise in improving the effectiveness of LEDIB supported interventions
• Comment and advise on quarterly LEDIB progress in implementation and provide suggestions to the proposed activities and plans for the next quarter/half year
