Nis is the host of three-day seminar on the topic "General guidelines for the preparation of regional development strategy" that is held 13-15 April in the organization of the LEDIB programme. Preparation of regional development strategies should enable the delegating part of work responsibilities from the national to regional levels. Decentralization of Serbia and development of so far neglected regions put in the foreground the necessity of creating such a strategy for all parts of Serbia. Niš, as one of the biggest cities in Serbia, deserves to be the centre of development. For a number of comparative advantages and potentials of Nis as a centre of southern and eastern Serbia pointed out the distinguished lecturer seminars - professor Milan Vemić.

The seminar focuses on the textile and construction industry, but does neither neglect nor other branches of the economy. Participants will get clear instruction on areas of modern management that are relevant for the achievement of effective regional economic development. Following the programmes of leading international organizations for the implementation of projects such as UNDP, World Bank, the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development of the Republic of Serbia, topics of seminars were by the Faculty of Management in Novi Sad.

Faster decentralization and more efficient development of regions in Serbia are the aim of such meetings and training. It is concluded that the strategy for regional development should be coordinated at the national level and made in accordance with the existing strategies in the countries of the EU.
